Installing chitex

Install chitex for Windows and for Unix:

A. Install chitex for Windows:

(1) Goto:

ftp://ftp.math.ncu.edu.tw/chitex/Win2000-XP-Vista or,

ftp://dongpo.nath.ncu.edu.tw/chitex/Win2000-XP-Vista

to get the whole subdirectory:

ps635Mk27b42

And in this directory, click “setup.exe” (or “setup”)

Then it will start to install. chitex.

or

(2) Goto:

http://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/systems/chitex/Windows

to get

chitex27b38.exe

and click chitex27b38(.exe) to have a directory ps635Mk27b38.

Then in this directory click:

setup(.exe)

to install chitex.

(Important: Before install chitex, you should install Miktex2.7

INstall Miktex2.7:

(1) Goto:

www.miktex.org

to get file "setup-2.7.3224.exe" to install Miktex2.7.

or

(2) Goto:

ftp.math.ncu.edu.tw/chitex/Win2000-XP/Vista/iso

to get file "miktex27.iso" to install Miktex2.7.

After completing the installton, you could click an icon labeled “chitex” on the desktop to launch chitex.

B. Install chitex for Unix

(1) Goto:

ftp://ftp.math.ncu.edu.tw/chitex/unix

ftp://dongpo.nath.ncu.edu.tw/chitex/unix

to get the whole subdirectory:

6.1.2p15a38

And in this directory, give command:

chmod +x setup

and then:

Run: ./setup

Then it will start to install.

Or

(2) Goto

http://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/systems/chitex/Unix

to get

chitexu_15a37.tgz

and give command:

zcat chitexu_15a37.tgz|tar xvf –

to have directory

6.1.2p15a37

Then in it, give command:

chmod +x setup

and run:

./setup

to install chitex.

After completing the installton, you could give command:

chitex

to see the usage of chitex.
